    Are you a designer-maker looking for a challenge? Join in the PALLET to PRODUCT Design Challenge, and create an innovative new product from a simple everyday wooden pallet. Add new parts, deconstruct others, paint, saw, glue, etc. The end product can be either functional or sculptural and to any size. Let your imagination run free!
    We are looking for submissions from a broad range of disciplines including jewellery, furniture making, product design, textiles and graphic design etc. Selected work must show great design capabilities and excellent use of craft skill.

    An exhibition of the selected finalists work will take place in Kilkenny during the IDEATE Festival on 5th and 6th July 2013. The selected work will be judged and the overall winner will receive the Design Challenge Winner prize of an iPad! Finalists will receive free passes to all IDEATE events taking place.

    • Register your interest by 17th May 2013 via email with name, contact details and your craft/design discipline.
    • Send good quality images of your entry and product description to by 7th June 2013.
    • A selection panel will review these images; they will decide selected participants for the exhibition of work by 14th June 2013.
    • Selected work to be delivered to Crafts Council of Ireland, Castle Yard, Kilkenny by 5th July 2013.
    • The selected participants will be asked to give a 3-minute presentation on their product on Friday 5th July and the winner of the Design Challenge will be decided.

    Terms and Conditions:
    • Submission is open to all disciplines, either teams or individuals.
    • You must register your interest to take part by the 17th May 2013.
    • Products must incorporate the use of a recycled wooden pallet(s).
    • You are responsible for any expenses incurred for the making of work and delivery of work if selected.
    • You are responsible for the delivery of your product to Crafts Council of Ireland, Castle Yard, Kilkenny by 5th July 2013 if selected.
